Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Transit Manager, successful applicants will inspect transit vehicles and transport passengers safely and efficiently on fixed route or on-demand public transit system, complete required paperwork as necessary.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
1.      Inspect and operate Tribal Transit vehicles for the purpose of transporting passengers.
2.      Assists passengers in boarding and alighting bus, operation of ramps and wheelchair lifts as necessary.
3.      Assists in the loading and unloading of passenger baggage and other items as necessary.
4.      Inspects and maintains Tribal Transit vehicles insuring safe operating conditions.
5.      Maintain professional image and provide excellent customer service.
6.      Assure that required fares are deposited in farebox and provide customer information as needed.
7.      Maintain records and complete all required paperwork.
8.      Comply with and promote safe practices in compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws rules and guidelines.
9.      Provides information regarding Grand Canyon West, the Grand Canyon, including Hualapai cultural information.
 
Knowledge and Abilities:
1.      Must demonstrate proficiency in Pre and Post Trip inspections.
2.      Must have and maintain excellent attendance record.
3.      Must maintain positive and professional work environment.
4.      Must be able to pass mandatory drug screen and DOT physical prior to offer of employment.
5.      Position requires physical effort such as walking, lifting (up to 40 pounds), standing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, assisting passengers with bags, assisting passengers with and securing wheelchairs or other mobility devices.
6.      Position requires sitting for some length of time with constant head, arm, hand and foot movement.                               
7.      Geography and layout of property route and general description of GCW.
8.      Operation of transit vehicles, wheelchair lifts, safety equipment and fueling systems.
9.      Identifying maintenance needs and mechanical problems and refers for repair.
10.  Following and maintaining safety standards, and identifying safety problems
 
Qualifications:
1.      Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Commercial Driver's License (CDL), minimum of Class C, with "P" or "B" endorsement, driver's license.
2.      An excellent driving records.
3.      Provide extraordinary customer service.
4.      Be able to provide a basic knowledge of the Grand Canyon and Hualapai culture.
5.      Good oral and interpersonal communication skills.
6.      Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
 
Working Conditions:
1.      Requires transportation of passengers over a predetermined tour route with loading and unloading zones at designated tour stops. 
2.      Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends, holidays. 
3.      Position requires sitting for some length of time with constant head, arm, hand and foot movement.
