French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a CAD Drafter to join our Civil/Site Department in Hackettstown, NJ. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CAD professional to prepare detailed civil/site plans and construction documents for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will bring professional experience preparing civil/site engineering drawings, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and the ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, surveys, and construction details. This individual will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of supporting multiple projects while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

Civil/Site Drafting Experience

FPA’s Civil/Site Department supports land development and municipal infrastructure projects through the preparation of detailed engineering plans and construction documents. CAD drafting plays an important role in translating engineering concepts, survey information, and design revisions into clear, accurate drawings throughout the design and permitting process.

The CAD Drafter will prepare and revise accurate civil/site drawings that meet company drafting standards and project requirements. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, expand Civil 3D expertise, and collaborate with professionals across FPA’s multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise civil/site engineering plans and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

• Develop site layout, grading, utility, roadway, drainage, erosion and sediment control, and landscaping plans under the direction of project engineers and project managers.

• Incorporate design markups and redline revisions into engineering drawings.

• Create plan, profile, and detail sheets for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.

• Assist with the preparation of stormwater management exhibits, permit plans, and supporting project documentation.

• Coordinate drawing production with engineers, surveyors, planners, and other technical staff.

• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company drafting standards.

• Organize and maintain project files, drawing records, and electronic documentation.

• Utilize survey data, aerial mapping, and GIS information to support project development.

• Assist with quantity calculations and the preparation of construction details as needed.

• Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.


Qualifications

• Associate's degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in CAD Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing civil/site engineering drawings.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required.

• Experience producing land development, grading, utility, roadway, and drainage plans preferred.

• Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, surveys, and construction details.

• Familiarity with municipal, commercial, residential, and institutional development projects.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

• Experience supporting land development projects throughout design and permitting phases.

• Familiarity with New Jersey design standards and permitting requirements.

• Experience working within a consulting engineering environment.

• Knowledge of stormwater management and utility infrastructure plan preparation.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $60,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, education, qualifications, and skill set. FPA recognizes and rewards performance through an annual bonus program.
