Job Summary

Provides scheduling coverage for the Hadley Rehabilitation location and additional off-site rehabilitation locations as needed. This is a 40-hour-per-week position, Monday through Friday, with responsibility for closing shifts.

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for performing various duties involved in admitting in-patients, out-patients, emergency patients, and clinic patients. This includes cashiering and pre-certification verification, acting as a custodian of patient valuables and safekeeping, maintaining petty cash fund, assisting in the resolution of admission, billing, or other problems related to the collection of an account balance, as well as maintaining Patient Access Services Department records and statistics.

This position reports to the Patient Access Services Supervisor and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Ā 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • One (1) to three (3) years administrative and in-person customer service experience required, preferably in a health care setting; patient access services experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification procedures.

  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to resolve customer complaints and issues in a professional manner.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.

  • Greet patients and families in a professional and welcoming manner.

  • Verify insurance coverage and pre-authorization requirements.

  • Collect and enter patient demographics and insurance information into electronic medical records.

  • Ensure accurate and complete collection of patient demographic and insurance information.

  • Obtain necessary signatures for consent and authorization forms.

  • Resolve insurance and billing-related issues.

  • Maintain a high level of customer service and work to resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.
