Job DetailsJob Location: HAMILTON, TX 76531JOB TITLE: Housekeeper DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services JOB SUMMARY: Performs duties involved in safely handling and disposing of blood and body fluids. Thoroughly sanitizing floors, walls, counters, and other surfaces is required, following environmental and hospital guidelines and procedures. Includes cross training in all areas and buildings. Cleaning and sanitizing furnishings and all areas assigned. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms and nursing floor areas a. Cleans bathroom and basin. b. Dusts furniture and dusts and wet-mops floors c. Stocks bathroom with expendable supplies d. Cleans Medication Room, Nursing Station, Utility Rooms and Exam Rooms e. Cleans patient room after patient is discharged or transferred as stipulated in established procedures Cleans assigned area of the hospital. a. Cleans furniture, fixtures and hospital surfaces b. Cleans floor by dry- or wet-mopping, sweeping, waxing and buffing and disinfecting when necessary c. Cleans carpeting by vacuuming and by shampooing when necessary Follows established cleaning schedule Cleans walls, windows, doors and ceilings Empties and cleans small waste receptacles and removes trash to a designated collection area. OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS: Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials. Follows safety guidelines and policies for the healthcare system. Follows Environmental Services Patient Care Procedures. Cross training in all areas and buildings. Health.edu training. Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. Adheres to Hamilton Healthcare System’s Behavioral Standards. Emulates the customer service expectations for Accountability, Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. Maintains HIPAA compliance at all times. Abides by the Hamilton Healthcare System Personnel Policy and Employee Handbook. Performs all other duties as assigned. QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS: A. Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. B. Personal job-related skills: Ability to read and write. C. Licensure, registry or certification: None required. D. Experience 1. Prior work experience: Entry level position 2. Technical training: None required E. Physical and mental requirements: Duties of position require extended periods of walking and standing. Lifting up to 50 pounds and transporting up to 300 pounds on carts. Pushing and pulling of carts, climbing ladders, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching in storing supplies and cleaning activities. The ability to comprehend and follow written or verbal instructions and directions. Must be able to use heavy equipment and machinery to clean, polish, and sanitize floors and carpets on a rotating basis. Completes paper work for each patient room and follows customer service and patient care procedures.
