Maintenance Technician

Indiana Welcome Center / South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority

The South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to assist with the daily maintenance, upkeep, and operation of the Indiana Welcome Center. This position plays an important role in ensuring our facility is safe, clean, comfortable, and welcoming for visitors, guests, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
  • Assist with general repairs and maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, doors, locks, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Maintain the exterior grounds, including landscaping, gardening, trash removal, recycling, and seasonal snow removal.
  • Operate and properly maintain landscaping, maintenance, and other facility equipment.
  • Assist with setup and teardown for events, exhibits, meetings, and other functions.
  • Assist with moving and organizing brochures, displays, furniture, and other materials.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Follow established safety procedures and properly use required safety equipment.
  • Communicate maintenance issues and facility concerns to the Facilities Coordinator.
  • Work cooperatively with all departments to maintain a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge or experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscaping, or general facility maintenance is preferred.
  • Comfortable working with hand and power tools.
  • Willing and able to perform physical, hands-on work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate maintenance equipment, including landscaping equipment, snow blowers, forklift, and man lift.
