OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSURE: BLS provider or obtains within six months of employment. Requires standing, walking, turning, bending, stooping, and lifting. Clear speech to communicate effectively with customers (e.g. patients, families, and other team members). Fine and gross motor skills. Environment may be stressful at times, therefore ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary. Lifting up to 50 lbs may be required, anything over 50 lbs should be a team lift or with the use of a lifting aid. Also subject to bloodborne pathogens at all times in patient care. May have occasional exposure to radiation during radiology procedures and to dangerous chemicals (cleaning and disinfecting agents). As a condition of employment, employees must adhere to: · OCH Code of Conduct · OCH Policies and Procedures · Scope of Practice within License/Certification. · HIPAA and HIPAA Security Confidentiality Standards · Workplace Safety · Mandatory Training · Annual Compliance Education ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  •    To be included with first assistant’s job description. •    Facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team. •    Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. •    Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by •    Assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure  •    Preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure  •    Performing accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator •    Assisting with placement of sterile drapes •    Providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure •    Maintaining an organized sterile field •    Ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed •    Preparing sterile dressings •    Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas. •    Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients. •    Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities.  •    Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. •    Pain management •    Frequently accesses email to stay up to date on information within the organization and provides a way of communication between staff members. •    Performs all procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures of OCH and adheres to legal compliance policies and other regulatory issues.QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required for all positions (may be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).     REQUIRED: Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program.     PREFERRED: N/A EXPERIENCE:      REQUIRED:N/A     PREFERRED: One year perioperative services experience.
