The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for an Accountant. This position will provide accounting transaction support to the Fiscal Liaison & Support Section. Responsible for preparing and processing accounts receivable transactions to include state property damage, vendor overpayments, miscellaneous invoicing and ensuring the transactions are billed timely and recorded in the financial system. Process other accounting transactions such as accounts payable, journals, IUJS, wires, and daily deposits. Responsible for performing account and system reconciliations. This position is part of a career ladder with career advancement opportunities. This position reports to the Fiscal Liaison & Support Supervisor.

Required Education and Experience:

4 years of related financial experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting.

Effectively organize workload and prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities to meet established deadlines.

Ability to analyze situations and procedures to make the correct accounting determination.
