Shodair Children’s Hospital is looking for a Behavioral Intervention Specialist to join our Comprehensive School and Community Treatment (CSCT) team. In this rewarding, school-based role, you’ll work directly with students struggling with serious emotional disability (SED), helping them develop the skills they need to navigate challenges and thrive.

You’ll be part of a collaborative team alongside a CSCT therapist, teachers, school staff, and families—all working together to create meaningful, positive outcomes for students.

What You’ll Do

• Provide individualized support, supervision, and direct care based on each student’s treatment and behavior plans.
• Help students build and practice social skills, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and positive behaviors.
• Support therapeutic classroom activities and assignments.
• Build strong relationships with students while serving as a consistent, positive role model.
• Partner with therapists, educators, and families to ensure effective and consistent support.
• Use trauma-informed, non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Document student behaviors, interventions, and progress accurately and in accordance with organizational and billing requirements.
• Participate in structured summer and holiday programming, including student transportation as needed.
• Administer school-time medications during non-traditional school programming.
• Encourage a safe, respectful, inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, or a related field OR High school diploma/GED with two years of experience working with youth with mental health and behavioral health challenges.
• Valid driver's license (for transporting students during programming)
