Maria Parham’s 8-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) delivers around-the-clock, comprehensive care for critically ill patients. Our patient-centered approach extends beyond clinical treatment, providing compassionate support to families and loved ones throughout the care journey.
Â
Recent enhancements to our advanced cardiac monitoring and treatment technology have further strengthened our ability to support the ICU team, including physicians, nurses, and specialized clinicians. With a low nurse-to-patient ratio, our team is able to provide highly personalized, attentive care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Our ICU nurses are specially trained in critical care, with expertise in cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, and complex surgical cases. Maria Parham is equipped to provide exceptional critical care when you and your family need it most.

Summary:
Provides direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

How You’ll Contribute
Â
A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:
- Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
- Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
- Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees.
- Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
- PALS, ACLSÂ and Handle with Care Preferred
- One year of RN Hospital experience (required)
- Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
