Job Summary:

This role provides plant-wide electrical engineering support for Central Maintenance operations, with primary responsibility for high-voltage electrical systems, Electrical Safe Work practices, and power distribution reliability across the Ravenswood facility. The successful candidate must be highly experienced in industrial electrical systems and must demonstrate expert-level knowledge of high-voltage equipment, substations, transformer yards, arc flash hazards, NFPA 70E requirements, lockout/tagout expectations, and the safe execution of electrical work in a heavy manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Central Maintenance subject matter expert for Electrical Safe Work practices, including NFPA 70E, arc flash risk management, energized electrical work controls, lockout/tagout, and electrical hazard assessments.
  • Provide direct technical support for plant power distribution systems, including the 138kV transformer yard down to 480V substations throughout the facility.
  • Provide PLC and electrical troubleshooting support for all Central Maintenance assets, with emphasis on safe, reliable, and compliant work execution.
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage preventive maintenance schedules, inspection requirements, and compliance activities for 480V substations and related plant electrical infrastructure.
  • Lead and develop electrical projects throughout the plant, ensuring designs, installations, and maintenance activities meet applicable electrical codes, company standards, safety expectations, and reliability requirements.
  • Field validate and coordinate electrical designs and plans with Central Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, EHS, and other central departments.
  • Audit new and existing electrical installations for design standards, Electrical Safe Work expectations, NFPA 70E principles, and applicable regulatory or company requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or 10 years of electrical experience in an industrial environment, required.
  • Expert-level knowledge of high-voltage industrial electrical systems, power distribution, substations, transformer yards, switchgear, transformers, breakers, protective relays, and related equipment, required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Electrical Safe Work practices, NFPA 70E, arc flash hazards, energized work controls, lockout/tagout, and electrical risk assessment, required.
  • Experience supporting electrical systems in a heavy manufacturing, metals, chemical, utility, industrial maintenance, or similarly high-risk operating environment, strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate electrical hazards, provide technical direction, influence safe work practices, and support compliance across maintenance, operations, engineering, and project teams, required.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing under specific area of discipline, required.
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences, preferred.
  • Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, preferred.
