The Woodbury, Long Island office of Kaufman Dolowich, a leading full-service national law firm with more than 250 attorneys across 16 offices and over 25 practice areas, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our General Liability practice group.

 

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys on all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and resolution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong litigation background, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including case management, discovery, motion practice, arbitration, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Manage attorney caseloads with a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Review, organize, and analyze case files, pleadings, discovery materials, medical records, and other litigation documents.
  • Draft discovery demands and responses, including Interrogatories, Requests for Production, Notices for Discovery and Inspection, Requests for Admission, and Subpoenas.
  • Coordinate depositions, summarize deposition transcripts, and prepare case chronologies and timelines.
  • Review, summarize, and analyze medical records, accident reports, expert reports, and investigative materials to assist in the defense of claims.
  • Prepare trial notebooks, arbitration binders, witness files, exhibit lists, demonstrative exhibits, and hearing materials.
  • Assist with drafting motions, correspondence, pleadings, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Manage document collection, review, redaction, and Bates stamping for production.
  • Prepare and process HIPAA authorizations and obtain medical, employment, and other third-party records.
  • Conduct legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other available resources.
  • Assist with electronic filing in State, Federal, and Appellate Courts.
  • Coordinate with clients, experts, vendors, court personnel, and opposing counsel as necessary.
  • Support attorneys in the defense of general liability matters, including premises liability, transportation, construction accident, product liability, and other personal injury claims.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the firm's litigation practice and office operations.

 

Qualifications

  • Paralegal Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm setting.
  • Experience handling General Liability matters strongly preferred.
  • Experience reviewing, summarizing, and analyzing medical records and litigation-related documents.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal court procedures and electronic filing systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications; experience with NetDocs and Westlaw is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to client service.
