JOB TITLE: FABRICATION TECHNICIAN II
DEPARTMENT: Fabrication & Modification
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

With minimal supervision, the Fabrication Technician II performs complex fabrication, layout, and measurement tasks. Responsible for equipment setup, quality preparation, and assisting in resolving fabrication issues while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of fabrication equipment.

Major Responsibilities/Duties

  • Layout and fabricate aircraft parts including ribs, stringers, doublers, and similar components using sheet metal and composite repair techniques.
  • Utilize measuring tools such as calipers, dial calipers, and scales.
  • Set up and operate press brakes, shears, and water jet equipment.
  • Perform composite fabrication and repair on aircraft structures and components.
  • Interpret and verify weld parameters and fabrication logs.
  • Identify repair requirements and remove/install aircraft parts accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate material movement and ensure proper processing of parts.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including drill presses, band saws, chop saws, bending brakes, and shears.
  • Assist with training part-time and entry-level technicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 to 5 years of related fabrication or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to hold required tolerances.
  • Knowledge of aluminum properties and material characteristics.
  • Proficient in measurement, layout, and edge-finishing techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Mil-Spec components and processes.
  • Aviation or aerospace experience.
  • Composite manufacturing or repair experience in aerospace, defense, or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with military aviation operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance.
  • Ability to work in office and manufacturing environments with exposure to noise, varying temperatures, odors, and chemicals.
  • Ability to traverse manufacturing facilities as required.
