About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Estimator (Power Generation) to lead estimating activities for utility-scale power generation, energy infrastructure, and industrial EPC projects. This position is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates, leading estimating teams, supporting business development efforts, and providing executive-level guidance throughout the project pursuit lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in power generation construction, transmission and distribution infrastructure, renewable energy facilities, balance-of-plant work, and large-scale industrial projects, along with strong leadership, commercial, and risk management capabilities.

What You'll Do

  • Lead all estimating activities for power generation and energy infrastructure projects from concept through final proposal submission.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates, bid strategies, labor projections, equipment pricing, subcontractor evaluations, and indirect cost analyses.
  • Manage and mentor estimating teams, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to company standards and best practices.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and technical requirements to identify project risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, procurement, operations, and business development teams during the pursuit process.
  • Establish estimating procedures, cost databases, benchmarking tools, and historical cost metrics to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Lead bid reviews and executive presentations, providing recommendations regarding pricing strategy, contingencies, and risk allocation.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations and participate in key negotiations.
  • Support proposal development, contract reviews, value engineering initiatives, and constructability assessments.
  • Monitor market trends, labor conditions, equipment costs, and industry developments impacting project execution and competitiveness.
  • Participate in client meetings, industry events, and strategic growth initiatives across the power generation sector.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field; equivalent industry experience considered.
  • 12+ years of progressive estimating experience within power generation, utility, EPC, industrial, or energy infrastructure construction.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing estimating teams and complex project pursuits.
  • Demonstrated experience with thermal generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, transmission infrastructure, or balance-of-plant construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, project controls, scheduling, procurement, and contract delivery models.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, cost databases, Microsoft Office Suite, and proposal management tools.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), or related certification.
  • Experience with EPC, design-build, and self-perform construction delivery models.
  • Knowledge of utility, renewable energy, and large-scale industrial market sectors.
