About this Role
Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to support large-scale EPC and infrastructure projects across the power generation sector. This role provides advanced financial oversight, project accounting leadership, and strategic support for complex, multi-million-dollar construction and engineering programs.Â
The Senior Project Accountant will serve as a key financial partner to Project Management, Project Controls, and executive leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong cost control, and compliance across all active EPC projects.
What You'll Do
Project Financial LeadershipÂ
Lead project accounting activities across multiple complex EPC projects from initiation through closeoutÂ
Oversee project financial performance, including costs, revenue recognition, billing, and commitmentsÂ
Ensure accuracy of monthly close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reportingÂ
Provide financial guidance to project teams on contract structure and accounting implicationsÂ
Advanced Cost & Billing OversightÂ
Review and approve complex client billing applications and project invoicesÂ
Manage progress billing, retainage, change orders, and contract-specific financial requirementsÂ
Partner with Project Controls to validate cost reporting, forecasting, and earned value dataÂ
Resolve high-level billing disputes and subcontractor financial discrepanciesÂ
Financial Analysis & ReportingÂ
Perform advanced variance analysis, forecasting, and project performance reportingÂ
Identify financial risks, margin impacts, and cost overruns across active projectsÂ
Prepare executive-level financial summaries and project performance dashboardsÂ
Ensure accuracy and integrity of data within ERP and accounting systemsÂ
Compliance & ControlsÂ
Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate accounting policies, and contractual obligationsÂ
Support internal and external audits, including documentation preparation and issue resolutionÂ
Maintain strong financial controls and enforce proper cost coding and allocation structuresÂ
Identify and implement process improvements within project accounting workflowsÂ
Cross-Functional LeadershipÂ
Serve as a senior liaison between accounting, operations, project management, and procurement teamsÂ
Provide mentorship and guidance to Project Accountant I–III staffÂ
Support training efforts and development of junior accounting personnelÂ
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across project accounting and finance functionsÂ
What You'll Bring
Â
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fieldÂ
- 7–12+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in EPC, construction, or industrial environmentsÂ
- Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition principlesÂ
- Experience with project cost controls, WIP reporting, and financial forecastingÂ
- Proficiency with ERP systems (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or similar)Â
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modeling capabilitiesÂ
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with technical and operational teamsÂ
- Ability to manage multiple high-value projects in a fast-paced environmentÂ
