Summary of Job

The Production Supervisor II is responsible for directing and supervising activities of a production team and shift/department and will have multiple direct reports. The right individual will have 3+ years of experience leading & managing a team in a manufacturing environment, and will ensure that safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards are achieved, while meeting waste reduction and sustainability goals. In addition, the individual in this role will be responsible for creating a culture based on integrity, customer focus, innovation, and collaboration that will enhance the department’s ability to attract, develop, and retail top talent. The Production Supervisor II is responsible for all people leadership and management aspects of the department, including the interviewing and selection of talent and all components of performance management. 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Drive company to achieve goals by communicating expectations, planning, monitoring, and evaluating flow of production. 
  • Effectively manage labor to meet plant labor productivity & cost goals by coordinating work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequence
  • Monitor production activities, identify problems, and troubleshoot causes to develop solutions
  • Plan and manage daily, weekly, and monthly objectives, communicating them to

employees to ensure alignment 

  • Create, train, monitor, and evaluate team on safety, quality and standard operating procedures. 
  • Train and understand of all existing and any new production equipment – create and/or review training documentation to ensure it’s up to date and accurate
  • Troubleshoot processing techniques and production machinery and provide solutions for continuous improvement 
  • Accurately record, communicate, and maintain required documentation in timely manner.
  • Analyze and submit daily reporting on performance and progress as it relates to

production, quality, safety, staffing, and regular maintenance duties. 

  • Own all KPIs to ensure the team is meeting or exceeding targets, and implement

process change that would minimize waste levels and meets all customer requirements.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and provide problem solving and resolution skills for departmental issues.
  • Adheres to, and manages to, the highest standards of company safety programs,

guidelines, rules, and regulations including all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Enforces standards and guidelines amongst team.

  • Assure quality and accuracy of production standards. Promptly reports all quality defects to the appropriate team members.
  • Enable team members to meet or exceed production rates, minimize waste levels, and meets all customer requirements.
  • Ensure production reporting data is entered into ERP and cascade information to next shift.
  • Attends meetings and completes safety trainings as required and hold team accountable to do the same.
  • Provide direct supervision of production team members, which includes all employee relations issues, corrective action, performance management, merit/compensation recommendations, hiring, and terminations.
  • Provide evaluation to each team member through regular performance feedback

processes (30/60/90, progressive discipline, performance management, etc.)

Position Type

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in relevant field 
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years’ experience with a minimum 3 years’ experience working in a supervisory
  • position.
  • Strong Background in manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is required, with some knowledge of Microsoft
  • Word/PowerPoint.
