Clinical Pharmacist – NICU | Pediatric Critical Care

Schedule: 5 × 8-hour day shifts | On-call rotation approximately every 8–9 weeks
Make an Impact in Neonatal Care
Join a specialized Children’s Pharmacy team supporting a 118-bed NICU. We’re seeking a residency-trained Clinical Pharmacist with dedicated neonatal experience who is passionate about providing safe, evidence-based medication care to critically ill newborns.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with neonatologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals while helping advance clinical pharmacy practice and improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical pharmacy services to critically ill neonates.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to optimize medication therapy, safety, and outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and monitor clinical pharmacy programs focused on quality improvement and cost-effective care.
- Support medication-use evaluations, drug utilization reviews, restricted/targeted drug programs, and cost-containment initiatives.
- Serve as a clinical resource and educator for pharmacists, physicians, nurses, students, and residents.
- Precept, mentor, and support pharmacy students and residents.
- Participate in clinical research evaluating drug therapies and clinical/economic outcomes.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve clinical pharmacy services and continuity of care.
- Participate in orientation, continuing education, and professional development activities.
- Promote teamwork, effective communication, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with departmental leadership/supervision responsibilities as needed.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, quality requirements, and productivity expectations.
Required Qualifications
- PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Pediatrics required.
- Dedicated NICU clinical pharmacy experience or significant NICU-focused experience during PGY2 residency.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clinical pharmacy services to critically ill neonates.
- Active Texas pharmacist license or eligibility to obtain Texas licensure.
- PharmD, clinically oriented Master’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience.
- ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency/fellowship or equivalent experience preferred.
- Pharmacy sterile product certification through an accredited or approved program, when applicable.
