Floor Technician - Harris County Facilities

Job Description

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring an Overnight Floor Technician to maintain, restore, and protect hard floors and carpeted surfaces throughout our facilities. This hands-on role works 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM and is ideal for candidates with several years of floor care experience who take pride in delivering clean, safe, and professional-looking facilities. Day-to-day work includes operating commercial floor equipment, stripping and waxing floors, buffing, burnishing, scrubbing, and carpet care across multiple areas of the building. Candidates may also be found under related job titles such as Floor Tech, Custodian, Janitorial Technician, Environmental Services Technician, or Facilities Maintenance Worker. We are looking for reliable team members who can work independently, follow schedules, and consistently deliver high-quality floor care results.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine and project-based floor care throughout assigned buildings and facility areas. 
• Strip, wax, seal, buff, burnish, scrub, and polish hard floor surfaces.
• Clean, shampoo, extract, and maintain carpeted areas.
• Operate commercial floor care equipment, including auto scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, extractors, and wet vacuums.
• Inspect floors for damage, wear, safety hazards, or maintenance needs.
• Mix and use cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
• Move furniture or equipment as needed to complete floor maintenance projects.
• Maintain equipment in clean working condition and report repair needs promptly.
• Complete assigned work orders and follow established cleaning schedules.
• Work safely in occupied and unoccupied facility environments.
• Place signs and barriers as needed to protect building occupants during floor maintenance.
• Support general housekeeping or custodial duties when floor care assignments are completed.

Qualifications

Required

• 2+ years of professional floor technician, floor care, custodial, janitorial, environmental services, or commercial cleaning experience.
• Experience stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, scrubbing, and maintaining commercial flooring.
• Ability to operate commercial floor care equipment safely and effectively.
• Availability to work the overnight schedule of 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM. 
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical work for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.

Preferred

• 3+ years of floor technician experience in healthcare, education, corporate, airport, stadium, or large commercial facilities.
• Experience with carpet extraction and floor restoration projects.
• Knowledge of floor finishes, coatings, and specialty floor care procedures.
• Bilingual communication skills.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
