We are seeking a Paramedic to support emergency medical response and clinical operations at NASA Johnson Space Center and Ellington Field in Houston, Texas. This role combines emergency medical response with occupational and flight medicine support in a unique environment supporting NASA personnel and operations.

What You’ll Do

As a Paramedic, you will provide emergency medical care in coordination with the JSC Emergency Operations Center, Fire, Security, and clinical teams. You will also support day-to-day clinic operations and occupational and flight medicine testing.

Key responsibilities include:

• Respond to emergency medical calls, assess patient conditions, and provide appropriate pre-hospital emergency care. 
• Coordinate with JSC Fire, Security, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel to support timely and effective patient care. 
• Make critical patient-care decisions within established paramedic protocols and scope of practice. 
• Collect, document, and communicate relevant patient information to receiving medical professionals. 
• Coordinate and support patient transport to local hospitals when necessary. 
• Support occupational and flight medicine examinations and testing, including audiometry, pulmonary function testing, EKGs, vision screening, and routine physical examination procedures. 
• Protect patient privacy, safety, and rights while delivering a high level of service and care. 
• Maintain proficiency in standard emergency medical protocols as well as specialized protocols unique to the JSC environment. 
• Support special events, programs, and operational activities at Johnson Space Center and Ellington Field. 
• Participate in training, meetings, quality improvement activities, and continuing professional development. 
• Maintain compliance with applicable safety, quality, clinical, and company policies and procedures. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. 
• Current Texas Paramedic certification/licensure. 
• Valid state-issued driver’s license. 
• Ability to work effectively in emergency situations and make timely patient-care decisions. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, emergency response personnel, and other team members. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Military medicine, flight medicine, occupational health, or similar experience. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications. 
• Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certification, or ability to obtain. 
• Completion of a NIOSH-approved spirometry training program, or ability to obtain. 
• BLS Instructor certification. 
• ACLS Instructor certification. 

What to Expect

This position supports paramedic operations at NASA Johnson Space Center and Ellington Field and provides clinical testing support for Occupational and Flight Medicine patients. The role requires flexibility to support both emergency response activities and routine clinical operations.
