Maintenance Technician

Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next-generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies’ core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.

This role is part of our Hypersonics and Strategic Missile Defense business, which designs, develops, and delivers highly dependable missile systems for hypersonic and strategic missile defense missions. We provide integrated, mission-ready hardware that brings together multiple technologies into unified systems engineered to perform in demanding operational environments. Our tip-to-tail capabilities include payload protection and deployment systems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic interstage systems, separation systems, missile subsystems, shroud systems, launch systems, and payload integration solutions.

This position supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities across production equipment and facility systems. The role helps ensure critical manufacturing assets remain operational, supports installation and setup work, and contributes to a clean and organized work environment that upholds safety and production performance.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, vacuum, and compressor systems to resolve equipment issues.
• Executes preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment and facility systems.
• Performs routine lubrication and maintenance activities to support safe and efficient operations.
• Assists with equipment installations, setup, and related activities.
• Operates forklifts and manlifts to support maintenance tasks.
• Orders maintenance supplies and parts to maintain inventory readiness.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Performs fabrication tasks when required.
• Supports other maintenance activities as assigned.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) workplace safety practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact sensitively and harmoniously with workers from diverse cultures.
• Competency using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Strong understanding of safe work practices.
• Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
• Forklift certification (available on site).

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, or sitting for at least 8 hours.
