A. Duties & Responsibilities
Tool Room Technician 2
- Perform Preventative Maintenance service on all molds as per the PM schedule, including the completion of all required documentation.
- Responsible for the manufacturing to said specification of tooling components and ensuring the proper working of new tooling in the most time effective manner.
- Responsible for recording all worked hours and allocating them to the appropriate job number.
- Provide training to the Tool Room team members as needed.
- Assist with 5S in the Tool Room area.
- Assist with spare parts and common component inventory control and documentation.
- Assist with the delivery to and from Tool Room all molds requiring repair or service and return them to proper storage or machine as required.
- Assist to properly stage, secure, and document molds to be shipped in and out.
- Assist the Tool Room personnel when extra help is required.
- Participate in all prescribed training activities as required. This may include the completion of academic assignments.
- All other duties as assigned by the Tool Room leadership.

Tool Room Technician 2 (in addition to all duties as per Tool Room Technician 1)
Â
- Complete press calls as required by production, including troubleshooting and diagnostics to determine if repairs can be completed in-press or if the tool has to be pulled and delivered to the Tool Room.
- Complete repairs and tool service using benchwork skills, including but not limited to venting, fitting, polishing and the use of pneumatic tools.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs to electrical components on the tools.
- Perform hot runner maintenance.
- Complete repairs and tool service using welding skills.
- Use of Tool Room equipment – ie. milling machine, surface grinder, and/or other machines as required by the Tool Room leadership.Â
- All other duties as assigned by the Tool Room leadership.
B. Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 education.
- Minimum 3 years on job experience as Machinist/Tool and Die Maker.
C. Required Skills
- Communication skills.
- Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment
- Must have geometry and trigonometry understanding with basic math skills, English reading and writing.
- Must have working knowledge of shop machining equipment.
- Experience with lifting devices – ie. jib and overhead cranes, including a working knowledge of rigging for crane use.
- Must have ability to read blue prints, engineering drawings, and CAD Models.
- Meets requirements outlined in forms governing job function
- Understanding of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures related to job function.
- Basic computer skills
