Job Title: Quality Management System (QMS) Specialist
Reports To: Quality Function Deployment Director
Job Summary
This role is responsible for creating, maintaining, and continuously improving Volm's Quality Management System (QMS) across manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution operations. This position serves as a subject matter expert for compliance assessments, document control, corrective and preventive actions, and process standardization. The Quality Management System (QMS) Specialist develops systems for product and process quality, including applicable Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations for food contact packaging. The role collaborates closely with cross functional departments across multiple sites to improve process effectiveness, reduce risk, enhance customer satisfaction, and support regulatory and certification requirements.
Essential Duties
- Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System.
- Ensure compliance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 and applicable American Institute of Baking (AIB) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA)food-contact packaging requirements.
- Maintain traceability and mock recall programs, verifying material identification, lot control, and response readiness.
- Lead the Food Defense program and support facility-level hazard analysis activities including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)-or risk-based assessments, as applicable to food-contact packaging operations.
- Coordinate preparation for external audits and manage findings through closure.
- Support internal audit programs, audit schedules, auditor training, findings, corrective actions, and follow-up verification.
- Manage document control processes to ensure current revisions are available and obsolete documents are removed from use.
- Facilitate corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes, ensuring effective root cause analysis, action implementation, and verification of effectiveness.
- Analyze quality performance metrics, nonconformance trends, customer complaints, audit results, and process indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
- Provide training and guidance on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs),food safety, traceability, documentation requirements, and compliance expectations.
- Stay informed regarding regulatory changes, international standardupdates, customer requirements, and food-contact packaging industry standards impacting company operations.
- Partner with operations, warehouse, maintenance, procurement, quality, and site leadership teams to identify and resolve risks and drive sustainable improvements.Â
- Review regulatory, customer, and industry standard changes affecting food-contact packaging manufacturing and distribution, and update programs, procedures, and training accordingly.

Education and Experience
- Knowledge of quality systems, project management, and good manufacturing practices normally acquired by the completion of Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Quality, Operations or a related field or equivalent work experience in food-contact packaging manufacturing, food safety, or quality systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience related to Quality Management Systems, International Organization for Standardization (ISO)9001:2015,Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs),sanitation, traceability, complaint handling, corrective action, and documentation control.
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)Certification and Food Defense training required; Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)related certifications preferred.
- Experience supporting or leading customer or regulatory audits and inspections, including preparation, response coordination, corrective action tracking, and verification of effectiveness.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
- Capability to lift and carry objects of various weights up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing.
- Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges.
- Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low or high objects.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects.
- Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as temperature extremes, noise, dust, or fumes, depending on the nature of the job.
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.

Travel Requirements 
This position requires occasional overnight travel and occasional travel within the workday to attend sales events, trade shows, other Volm facilities, vendor locations, and customer sites.
Driver Qualification
The ability to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of the company preferred. Inclusion in the company’s driver qualification program is required to drive a company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle. 
Becoming a qualified driver includes:
- Agree to the company driving policies that apply to company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle as applicable.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record, as evidenced by completion of a baseline motor vehicle record check and ongoing monitoring.
- When driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company, must provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance that shows the policy dates and minimum coverage amounts ($300,000 bodily injury per accident/$100,000 property damage per accident or if driving less than 5 hours/200 miles a year $50,000 bodily injury per accident/$10,000 property damage per accident or the state minimum, whichever is more). This requirement is initially and then annually thereafter.
