Job DetailsJob Location: Independence, KS 67301Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: 1st ShiftJob Category: DOT - Safety Sensitive PositionSUMMARY: The Safety Wire Technician III will serve as the technical resource to the production team and install safety wire and preserve general and commercial aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.   DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Preserve all general and commercial aviation components in accordance with the component maintenance manual. Install safety wire and seals on all general and commercial aviation components after the final function test has been performed. Install safety cable on all general and commercial aviation components after the final function test has been performed. Review all documentation to ensure it is correct before transferring the component to the next stage in the process. Install shipping caps and plugs onto components. Communicate priority challenges to the Production Coordinator for clarification. Document maintenance records of all work performed. Provide safety wire training for any new hires and test technicians. Utilize fuel control preservation stand.  Conduct final visual inspections to ensure all safety wire, safety cable, hardware, and locking methods meet approved technical data and company quality standards. Perform cable gun torque verification and accurately document required inspection and maintenance records. Assist with process improvement planning. Provide support to the production planning team and process review technicians as time allows. Monitor and communicate chemical waste levels and proper disposal. Monitor inventory levels of shipping caps, plugs, preservation materials, and other production supplies, notifying leadership of replenishment needs. Other duties as assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   Associate’s degree OR an additional 2 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree. 2 years of relevant/technical work experience. Demonstrated proficiency installing aviation safety wire and safety cable using industry-accepted methods. Ability to read, interpret, and follow Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), technical drawings, engineering illustrations, and work instructions. Must be able to use hand tools, precision tools, and personal protective equipment safely. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to mentor, train, and support less experienced technicians. Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated dependability, accountability, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and regulatory compliance. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years of safety wire experience. Previous experience training or mentoring technicians. Experience with general aviation and commercial aviation accessories or components. OTHER:   The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
