The Supervisor Surgery Scheduling RN directs, organizes, coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Surgery Schedulers and Reimbursement Specialists. This position ensures clinical documentation is reviewed for completeness and supports charges for care provided, staff education related to documentation opportunities, and surgery charges are entered appropriately and timely. The Supervisor works with Revenue Management and Coding to ensure charges and practices are consistent and in compliance with regulations.

WHAT TO EXPECT 

  • Patient Charges Ensures patient charges are completed within 72 hours of the date of service for designated perioperative areas. Monitors and reviews all high dollar charges.

  • Charge Audit Conducts audits of medical records against the itemized billings and arranges for reconciliation to correct discrepancies; serves as liaison between finance, charging and physicians.

  • Management Collaboration Collaborates with other members of management to integrate department into overall regional hospital goals.

  • Compliance Inspections Inspects areas for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes preventative steps and corrective action when violations occur.

  • Policy Development Support Assists in developing policies, procedures, and instructional materials.

  • Staffing Needs Assigns a staffing schedule to provide volume-based staffing and satisfies the needs of the customer. Responds to emergency staffing shortages assisting as needed.

  • Performance Management Supervises the work of others and manages the performance of individuals through feedback and recommendations.

  • People Management Activities Participates in people management activities for direct team members such as conducting performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews.

  • Statistics and Reports Coordinates the completion of statistics and reports. Oversees utilization statistics for block scheduling.

  • Scheduling Coordinates scheduling with Surgery Departments and Anesthesia and addresses scheduling problems to ensure adequate coverage.

  • Documentation Requests Support Assists medical staff and physician office staff with questions related to documentation requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Associate's Degree Nursing

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree Nursing

  • 10+ years Perioperative clinical experience Preferred

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State Licensing Board
