The Position:

The Commissioning Technician provides safe, correct, and efficient commissioning of machinery and format tools at the Somic facility in Inver Grove Heights, MN, ensuring overall customer satisfaction.聽 Ensures co-operation and information flow between departments such as Sales and Engineering.

Your Job Duties:

Commissioning of machines at Somic Packaging Inc. (in-house)

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Partial re-assembly of machines after arrival at Somic Packaging

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Adjusting the machine according to customer specifications

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Testing all components of the machine and conducting test production runs

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Setting and fine tuning of machine parameters regarding customer arrangements and specifications

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Use of various measuring equipment

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics in corporation with other departments (e.g. mechanical and controls engineering)

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Executing reworks utilizing the in-house machine shop per 2D drawings and 3D models

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Detailed understanding of mechanical motions, timing and positioning

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Following internal quality guidelines and documentations.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform factory acceptance tests (FAT鈥檚) in conjunction with Somic鈥檚 PM as well as the end-user

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Partial dis-assembly of the completed machine and preparation for shipment together with shipping and receiving

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform PLC and HMI programming as well as logic adjustments together with controls engineering

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Operating equipment in Somic鈥檚 internal machine shop (lathe, mills, hand tools, etc.) for prototyping and rework of existing parts

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Serve as main contact for Project Management during commissioning phase via daily discussions as well as weekly status update meetings and other means if needed

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Complete documentation of the machines during the commissioning process through collecting data for the documentation department, checking off project related checklists and making sure all the tasks are fulfilled, providing documentation of completed mechanical or electrical adjustments

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Supporting Field Service Technician via phone and Teams on machine topics such as general questions on in-house commissioned machines, and technical details such as parameters

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Complete equipment performance analysis and recommendations for improvements

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Field travel limited up to 20% maximum

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ensures customer satisfaction of all services provided

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Be willing to assist with employees at all levels

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to maintain 6S standards in all areas of the job

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Safe working environment in all areas of the job

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Professional representative of Somic with current and potential customers

Your Qualifications:

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Completed Technical Degree from 2- or 4-year program in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation Technology, Robotics, Electronics or comparable experience

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience in the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of machines and systems

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge of electrical engineering, control technology, pneumatics, and mechanics

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Functional knowledge of PLCs with ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues. Rockwell required, Schneider beneficial

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Safe, structured, and reliable work approach, entrepreneurial mindset
