Landscape Irrigation Technician

Position Summary

The Landscape Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and residential irrigation systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on irrigation experience, be knowledgeable in multiple irrigation platforms, and possess or be willing to obtain a Texas Irrigator License. The technician will work in the field daily to ensure irrigation systems function efficiently, conserve water, and support healthy landscapes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain irrigation systems.
  • Diagnose and repair valves, rotors, spray heads, drip systems, backflow devices, controllers, and associated components.
  • Install and modify irrigation systems as needed.
  • Program and adjust irrigation controllers, including Hunter, Rain Bird, and other commercial irrigation systems.
  • Perform irrigation audits and identify leaks, coverage deficiencies, and water waste.
  • Respond to irrigation service requests and emergency repairs.
  • Assist with system upgrades and improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and completed work.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of irrigation experience.
  • Experience working with Hunter, Rain Bird, and similar irrigation systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to read irrigation plans and identify system components.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.

Licensing Requirements

  • Current Texas Irrigator License preferred.
  • Candidates without a license must be willing and able to obtain a Texas Irrigator License within a specified timeframe after hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial irrigation experience.
  • Experience with smart controllers, central control systems, and water management technologies.
  • Knowledge of pump stations, flow sensors, and advanced irrigation diagnostics.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of irrigation systems and components.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve irrigation issues quickly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of water conservation practices and irrigation best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
