Job Title: Mechanical Technician

Reporting to: Test Engineering Manager


Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Mechanical Technician to join our test team. In this role, you will handle final production and testing stages for high-value, mission-critical deliverables. Responsibilities include top
assembly, vibration testing, component staking, final packaging, and other supporting duties within the test engineering team. The ideal candidate has excellent manual dexterity, follows complex instructions perfectly, and maintains a strong work ethic for high quality results in a structured testing environment emphasizing carefully handling high value, mission critical deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Top Assembly: Perform final top-level mechanical assembly of products according to technical drawings and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
  • Vibration Testing: Set up, execute, and monitor vibration tests per Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
  • Staking: Apply adhesives to secure components and prevent shifting during operation.
  • Final Packaging: Package completed units securely for shipment according to company standards.
  • Documentation: Follow documentation protocols to log test results, complete batches, and quality checks.
  • Team Support: Execute other supporting duties within the test team as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience working in mechanical assembly, electronics manufacturing, environmental testing or a related technician role.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to comprehend and strictly follow detailed written work instructions (SWIs), verbal instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Attention to Detail: High precision and focus when handling delicate assemblies and conducting critical testing of high value assets.
  • Work Ethic: Strong time management, punctuality, and a collaborative team attitude.
  • Physical Requirements: Must pass a mandatory eye examination to ensure the necessary visual acuity for precision assembly and PCBA inspection.
  • Training: Ability to successfully complete all required company-provided onboarding and technical training modules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of and ability to read engineering drawings
  •  Experience writing and updating routers/build instructions/SWIs for mechanical assembly or testing
  • Familiarity with cable handling, connector mating practices, strain‑relief staking, and adhesive use (e.g., EC2216, DP190, RTV)
  •  Proficiency with calibrated mechanical tools including torque wrenches (in‑lb and ft‑lb), digital scales, calipers, micrometers, and other measurement equipment used for assembly verification and acceptance testing

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Trade school certification or an associate degree in mechanical technology, electronics, or a related field is preferred.
