Position Summary:

MGO is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing Core Tax team. This opportunity is ideal for a well-rounded tax generalist with experience serving a diverse client base, including privately held businesses, pass-through entities, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.

The Tax Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic tax planning, compliance oversight, and practical business solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax knowledge with leadership, client relationship management, and business development skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review complex tax returns and engagement workpapers, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Advise clients on tax implications related to business operations, transactions, growth initiatives, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, including S Corporations, Partnerships, C Corporations, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Research complex federal, state, and local tax matters and communicate recommendations clearly to clients and engagement teams.
  • Respond to tax authority notices and assist with examinations and client representation matters.
  • Oversee multiple engagements simultaneously while managing deadlines, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Mentor, develop, and supervise staff and senior accountants through coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Manage client relationships, billing, and service expansion opportunities.
  • Identify new business opportunities and support the growth of existing client relationships.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required; Master's in Taxation preferred.
  • CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting environment.
  • Strong experience with pass-through entities, including Partnerships and S Corporations.
  • Broad tax knowledge across individual, corporate, trust, and business taxation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and client relationships simultaneously.
  • Previous experience supervising and developing staff preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 

 

Compensation:

Base Salary: $120,000 - $150,000
