Physical Therapy Aide 

1.0 FTE 40 Hours/ Week

Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm or 8:30-5pm

How you’ll contribute:

  • Provides physical or occupational therapy treatments as follows: Hydrotherapy, superficial heat and cold applications, deep heat modalities, removal of treatment modalities, assistance with gait training, assistance with traction; and participation in predetermined exercise programs.

  • Provide direct patient care treatment; delegation per rules and regulations of the State of Michigan and third party payor sources..

  • Assures that patients are properly prepared for treatment that has been outlined.

  • Monitors patient during treatment.

  • When necessary, perform the following patient care activities:

    • a. Preparing thermal modalities.

    • b. Change treatment beds and clean booths between patients.

    • c. Empty dirty linen baskets and stock clean linen in all appropriate areas.

    • d. Wash all beds weekly.

    • e. Maintain cleanliness of all exercise and treatment equipment.

  • Completes reports as required for department.

  • Cleans and disinfects hydrotherapy and other equipment per departmental policy.

  • Schedules or assists in scheduling patients for prescribed treatments.

  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of all treatment areas.

  • Assures that the appropriate supplies are maintained in the department at all times.

  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.

  • Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional

  • development opportunities.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Some college coursework related to healthcare services.

  • Preferred: Previous experience in a health care position.
