JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:                      Transportation Clerk                      

STATUS:                   Hourly

LOCATION:             Jackson, GA

DEPARTMENT:      Transportation         

REPORTS TO:        Transportation Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:  Provide clerical support to the Transportation department through reporting and communication through several systems and processes.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Daily email communications to internal and external contacts regarding shipping and order status
• Assign Bay Codes
• Label printing, and sorting to support
• Support data entry need of other departments when needed.
• Iship Manifest, flag labels and put shortages on the backorder report
• Act as back-up to other Transportation team members
• Other tasks as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

            Education, Experience and Skills:

• A high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) is required.
• minimum of 1 to 3 years of Material Handling or Transportation experience is preferred.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Must have strong attention to detail.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast pace environment.
• Must be able to flex schedule as needed
• Must be able to demonstrate strong skills with Microsoft Office
• Must be able to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common business documents such as pallet tickets, manufacturing schedules, or job orders.  Ability to listen and communicate effectively with co-workers and customers/clients to respond to common inquires or complaints.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to such tasks as inventory control, production tracking, material ordering, and job order verification.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, climb, knell, bend, twist, and walk.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is required to speak and communicate with other employees, be able to hear well enough to recognize warning signals, forklifts, and announcements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Office and indoor manufacturing environment.  The noise level is usually low to moderate.  Occasional overtime required.
