This individual works with local school districts to identify appropriate field placements and support teacher candidates throughout the student-teaching experience. This position includes teaching in the Education program, which may include online teaching. Essential Functions: The following list of duties is meant to be representative of the work performed in this position. Serve as primary point of contact for school districts and student teachers in the field placement and student teaching placement process Represent the Illinois College Education Department effectively to regional school districts Work closely with area school district administrators to identify qualified teachers available to host IC students for a variety of field placements each semester Work closely with IC faculty to identify placements that meet the needs of each individual IC student and manage the files and placements for all students Conduct site visits as needed Teach 15-16 credits per academic year or the equivalent (e.g. student teaching supervision) in the Education program Demonstrate knowledge of current and best practices in the field of Education Contribute to the Department as a colleague through sharing expertise and information Qualifications: Minimum of master’s degree in Education Experience working in the field of education, with strong preference for K-12 teaching in Illinois College teaching experience, ideally as primary instructor; student teaching supervision experience considered A current teaching license for the State of Illinois Positive relationships with area school districts and/or the demonstrated ability to quickly establish new relationships Deep understanding of the teaching profession and K-12 Education in the State of Illinois Ability to be consistently positive, professional, persistent, and personable Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written An ability to deftly manage the needs and expectations of many different constituents Ability to take initiative, manage time well, and be largely self-directed Additional Job Details: Job Title: Placement Coordinator and Instructor of Education Department: Department of Education Reports to: Education Department Chair Status: Full-Time non-tenured staff, exempt Date Last Revised: August 2026 About Illinois College: Illinois College is a residential, private liberal arts college located in the heart of Illinois, 70 miles northeast of Saint Louis, Missouri, and 30 miles west of Springfield, the capital of Illinois.
