OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for accurately scheduling and coordinating a variety of diagnostic and interventional imaging exams, working closely with patients, physicians, nurses, technologists, and other departments to ensure timely and efficient patient care. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication and multitasking skills, and the ability to manage high call volumes and time-sensitive requests while maintaining accuracy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler.
Checks exam orders in Epic. Uses MyChart to communicate with patients, and Epic Chat to communicate with providers and offices.
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and technologists to coordinate patient exams to expedite patient exams in a timely manner.
Verifies that the patient’s insurance is within the Mercy Network prior to scheduling the study.
Performs cancels, reschedules and makes modifications to exam orders.
Must be able to accurately schedule exams for the following areas: CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography, , diagnostic and interventional radiology, as well as other departments as requested.
Monitors urgent exam wait list to ensure patient care is pro
Works with Non-Mercy Physicians to have exams performed within Mercy Health System and enters the order, collects correct information for the physician so that results are sent in a timely manner.
Coordinates patient's multiple exam orders and exams with other appointments so that the patient can complete all exams and appointments on as few visits as possible.
Scheduled and verifies outside Chiropractic orders insuring they have a Mercy contract.
Coordinates sedation cases with modality and OR.
Coordinates biopsies with Radiologist schedule, modality and Interventional Radiology for nursing staff and radiologist availability.
Is responsible to directly screen all MRI patients using the approved screening tool. Any potential contraindications are to be flagged and communicated to the MRI department prior to scheduling. Will communicate the potential safety issue to the patient and follow up accordingly.
Collects information to request images from other facilities.
Must notify hospital registration, radiology reception, pre-cert and modality of all add on exams to ensure that the exam will be preauthorized and performed expediently.
Pays very close attention to detail and is task oriented.
Manages high call volumes with few errors and maintains compsure under pressure.
When scheduling uses read back method, when taking orders and setting up appointments.
Manages up to 3 software applications simultaneously
Communicates on a pre-determined basis with the supervisors and coordinators to ensure preps, protocols and schedules are accurate and up to date
Utilizes appropriate scripting and patient identifiers.
Participates annually in MR and Radiation Safety Training to understand the critical nature of the position
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
At least one year of scheduling experience.
Medical terminology experience
Customer service experience

PAY RANGE:
