NOW HIRING: IT Operations Specialist

Position General Summary: 

Sole on-site IT professional responsible for the day-to-day health, security, and uptime of all technology at a critical access hospital. Executes corporate standards and solutions that are already defined and deployed within the health system. No budget ownership and no enterprise architecture or vendor selection responsibilities. Acts as the facility’s eyes and ears, provides hands-on support for end users and clinical operations, and coordinates with Corporate IT for changes, projects, and escalations. After-hours and on-call work may be required to support a 24x7 care environment.
 
Scope and Decision Rights: 

  • Owns on-site implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Follows corporate designs, standards, and roadmaps.
  • Escalates design changes, purchasing, contracting, and tool selection to Corporate IT.
  • No current direct reports; role may evolve as hospital volume or services expand.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
 

Operations and support 

  • Provide tier 1 to tier 3 on-site support for endpoints, printers, peripherals, and clinical workstations.
  • Support EHR, PACS/medical imaging clients, modality workstations, telehealth carts, and common clinical peripherals in coordination with application owners and vendors.
  • Image, deploy, and lifecycle endpoints using corporate tools and golden images.
  • Manage local inventory, spares, and RMA logistics; keep accurate asset records.

Infrastructure 

  • Monitor and maintain local network closets, cabling, patching, UPS, and telecom demarc; perform basic fiber and copper terminations as needed.
  • Maintain on-prem servers, virtualization platforms (Proxmox), and NAS/SAN devices per corporate standards.
  • Execute backup, restore, and DR runbooks for local systems; perform periodic test restores.
  • Implement OS and firmware patching windows approved by Corporate IT; support after-hours change activities at the site.

Security and compliance 

  • Enforce endpoint hardening, encryption, and EDR as directed by Corporate Security.
  • Administer user access, badge provisioning requests, and Azure Active Directory group access per defined workflows.
  • Maintain site logs and objective evidence required for HIPAA and ISO 27001 controls; support audits and remediation tasks.
  • Follow incident response playbooks; triage and escalate security events.

Coordination and projects 

  • Serve as on-site lead for vendor work, new equipment installs, and cutovers; verify completion against corporate checklists.
  • Coordinate with Network, Systems, Applications, and Security teams for planned work and outages.
  • Keep site documentation current: rack elevations, port maps, IP assignments, device lists, and recovery steps.
  • Provide training and floor support during go-lives or upgrades.

Customer service and communication 

  • Manage tickets and requests to SLAs; communicate status and ETAs to staff and leaders.
  • Maintain professional, dependable presence; support a small, fast-paced, growing environment.

Facility General Responsibilities: 

  • Attend facility new hire orientation as scheduled by HR
  • Complete Department Orientation Initial Competency within 7 days of hire date
  • Complete Department Initial Skills Competency within 90 days of hire date
  • Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures
  • Respect cultural and religious practices of patients from all backgrounds
  • Always follow HIPAA regulations
  • Be punctual and dependent for assigned shifts
  • Dress within the dress code requirements of the facility
  • Identifies all patients using at least two identifiers verbally (name and DOB), and by checking ID bracelet
  • Follows Hospital Wide and Department Specific policies and procedures
  • Must interact with physicians, guest, staff, and patients pleasantly, cooperatively, and effectively

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Associate degree in Information Systems or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3 or more years of hands-on IT experience supporting endpoints and infrastructure in a healthcare or 24x7 setting.
  • CompTIA A+ and Network+ required. Security+ preferred.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Windows client and server administration; M365 and Azure AD.
    • Virtualization platforms and basic Linux familiarity.
    • Backup and recovery concepts; NAS/SAN basics.
    • Switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi, and common troubleshooting tools.
    • Basic scripting for automation is a plus.

Preferred Experience 

  • Hospital or clinic support experience, including EHR and imaging clients.
  • ITIL fundamentals; change, incident, and problem processes.
  • Exposure to ISO 27001 and HIPAA technical safeguards

Working Conditions: 

  • Fully on-site; may require after-hours and on-call coverage for changes or incidents.
  • Work in data closets, ceilings, and under desks; lift up to 50 pounds with proper technique.
  • Occasional local travel to off-site clinics; limited travel to Tennessee for training or team events.
