Job Summary:
East Tennessee State University Pediatrics Department seeks a well-qualified clinical geneticist. The academic rank will be determined by the education and experience of the candidate. This position is housed within the Department of Pediatrics; however, the position will work with a rapidly expanding health sciences center consisting of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, public health, allied health, and a large VA system.
Other Considerations for this Position:
- Academic responsibilities include teaching of medical students and pediatric residents as well as academic and scholarly pursuits.
- Expansion of the clinical genetics program.
- Opportunities for research.
- Create new models of care to serve a large rural service area in collaboration with mid-level practitioners, pediatricians, other primary care providers, and specialists.
- Provide clinical services for genetics patients.
- Participation in the regional state newborn screening program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to teach medical students and residents.
- Ability to perform routine inpatient and outpatient genetic patients.
- Create new models of care to serve a large rural service area.
- Provide clinical services for pediatrics, oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, internal medicine, surgery, and family medicine.
Required Qualifications:
- MD/DO
- Completion of genetics fellowship at time of hire.
- Must be BC/BE in genetics at time of hire.
