Friendship Village is seeking a compassionate and energetic individual to join our culinary team as a Cook which is responsible for preparation of all food items per standardized recipes and production sheets. Enjoy complimentary employee meals during shifts and a schedule designed to promote work-life balance. Full-time cooks are typically scheduled for four 10-hour shifts per week and every other weekend, though schedules may be adjusted as needed to support resident care and staffing requirements. This position has a starting pay of $17.00 per hour. Ready to jump into a role that matters? 

Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll be doing each day as a Cook:

  • Prepares all soups, stocks, and sauces; boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes.
  • Prepares and serves all sautĂ©ed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes.
  • Prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders.  Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved.

  • High School diploma required.  Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English, understand measurements, make basic conversions, perform basic arithmetic, and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  • A minimum of two years quantity cooking experience.
  • Ability to plan and organize work and to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance.  Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
