Operation Breakthrough is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, educational and loving environment for children in poverty and to empower their families through advocacy, emergency aid and education.

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Communication and Data Coordinator has two primary responsibilities:


  •  Processing donations and maintaining all records for donors and Operation Breakthrough contacts on Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge. Includes keeping current on any program changes and training staff. Provide information through queries needed for fundraising and grants. 
  • Manage and create timely posts on all social media platforms to enhance the organizations online presence. To collaboratively tell the story of Operation Breakthrough’s mission and vision. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 1 years related experience in social media and fundraising. 
  • Strong creative writing and verbal communication skills as well as strong organizational skills.
  • Previous social media, blog, video experience.
  • Good storytelling and photography skills a plus.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, if needed.


KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Social Media Management: Manage and create timely posts on all social media platforms, to enhance the organization’s online presence to and collaboratively tell the story of Operation Breakthrough's families.Good photography skills and creative ideas a plus. 
  • Assist with creating blog posts content. 
  • Participate in monthly OB Board Communication Meetings to explore and implement new ideas relating to social media content.
  • Coordinate press coverage for center 


  

Along with Development Staff: 

  • Assist donors bringing monetary and in-kind gifts to Operation Breakthrough.
  • Support donors, individuals and community organizations who wish to become familiar with the center through donation of goods, touring the facility, and outside fundraising.
  • Assist the department in agency projects, providing general support as it relates to fundraising efforts, public outreach, advocacy and other functions related to fundraising goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to donors and donations according to established guidelines.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and task to meet deadlines


COMPETENCIES:


  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • Fundraising software experience and database management using The Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Support the growth and development of colleagues by sharing materials/ information and by providing feedback and encouragement.
  • Assist with other departmental activities, which may include setting up internal and external meetings and events.
  • Ability to work with families in poverty and crisis and to promote communication, warmth and respect among all parents, children, staff, volunteers and agency partners.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals including with persons of diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds, within and outside of the agency.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, professional and productive work environment including effective communication within the department and interdepartmentally.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new computer programs quickly and efficiently.
  • Demonstrates the ability to project a positive public image for oneself and Operation Breakthrough in the community as well as in the building.
  • Possess a passion and commitment to Operation Breakthrough’s mission to make a positive difference in the lives of at-risk children and their families.
  • Possess knowledge and skills related to donor cultivation and special event planning. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Requires ability to bend, kneel and squat many times each day.
  • Requires ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds several times a day.
