Maintenance Worker / Building Maintenance Technician
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM-4:00 PM
Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

Essential Job Duties
Building & Facility Maintenance
- Perform general building maintenance and facility repairs.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks to support safe and efficient operations.
- Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and HVAC maintenance projects.
- Respond to maintenance work orders and repair requests.
- Maintain floors through cleaning, buffing, waxing, and routine upkeep.
- Inspect facilities and identify maintenance needs.
Grounds Maintenance & Property Upkeep
- Perform lawn care, landscaping, mowing, trimming, and general grounds maintenance.
- Assist with snow and ice removal during winter weather.
- Maintain safe, attractive, and functional exterior property conditions year-round.
Operational & Maintenance Support
- Move furniture, fixtures, equipment, and donated materials as needed.
- Assist with room setups and event preparation.
- Support facility improvement and renovation projects.
- Escort and assist contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Operate Salvation Army vehicles to transport tools, supplies, and materials between locations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Follow facility safety procedures and organizational policies.
- Maintain maintenance equipment and tools.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum one (1) year of building maintenance, facilities maintenance, property maintenance, or related experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
- Basic plumbing repair experience.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair knowledge.
- Painting and drywall repair experience.
- Carpentry skills.
- HVAC maintenance experience.
- Experience operating lawn care and snow removal equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds.
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Traveling between multiple Salvation Army properties throughout the Kansas City area.
