The Kenosha YMCA is looking for a School-Age Childcare Lead Teacher to help create a fun, safe and engaging before and after school experience for children ages 5–12 at Prairie Lane Elementary School. As a Lead Teacher, you’ll work alongside the Site Director to plan activities, build positive relationships with children and families, and help keep the program running smoothly. You’ll also step into a leadership role when the Site Director is away, making this a great opportunity to grow your experience while making a difference in the lives of local students. What You'll Do Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and help create a safe, welcoming environment. Plan, lead and participate in fun, age-appropriate recreational and curriculum-based activities. Assist the Site Director with daily program operations and serve as the lead when the Site Director is not on site. Ensure children are safe, supervised and accounted for throughout the program day. Welcome families and communicate with parents during drop-off and pick-up. Help maintain an organized program space, including equipment, supplies and daily food preparation. Support and supervise guest teachers and interns when needed. Follow YMCA safety, abuse prevention, mandated reporting and Wisconsin child care licensing requirements. Participate in required trainings, staff meetings and provide support at other YMCA child care sites as needed. Complete required program and administrative responsibilities. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. Experience working with children. At least 240 hours of experience as an Assistant Teacher in a group child care center or equivalent. Must meet Wisconsin state licensing requirements for a Child Care Teacher/Lead Teacher. Current Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED certification must be maintained. Willingness to learn and follow Wisconsin child care licensing regulations and procedures. Ability to work cooperatively with children, families, staff and community partners. Ability to work independently with general supervision. Valid driver’s license. Must meet state background check requirements.
