The position of Crop Advisor is of great significance to Valley Agronomics. A person in this position is responsible for attracting new customers while also developing and supporting relationships with the location’s customer base. You will be responsible for developing long-term relationships with identified customers and working face to face with crop producers on the farm. The ideal candidates will possess experience in Agronomy Inputs, Seed, Crop Protection, Fertilizer and Precision Agriculture.

 

Job Summary:

These are the basic requirements of the position and must be performed competently.

  1. Promotes and coordinates the sales of fertilizer, crop nutrition products, crop protection products, seed, seed traits and seed treatments to maximize yield.
  2. Implements marketing and sales plans; establish and meet sales goals; and network with industry representatives to expand sales opportunities.
  3. Examines fields for yield, quality, adaptation to specific soils or climates, and resistance to diseases and pests.
  4. Help growers discover best methods of planting, cultivation, harvesting, and effects of various climatic conditions on crops
  5. Scouts fields and develop methods for control of noxious weeds, crop diseases, and insect pests.
  6. Strictly follow all company policies which includes safety and regulatory.
  7. Monitor competitive products and marketing activities.
  8. Communicate information regarding products and services with customers.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Ag Business or other Ag related degree preferred, must meet minimum educational requirements of a PCA, according to the California Department of Pesticide Regulation
  2. 5+ years of agronomy operations experience with the understanding of seed and crop production practices preferred.
  3. Must have an Agricultural Pest Control Advisors license. PCAs must pass laws and regulations, as well as a minimum of three of the category exams including: Category A: Insects, Mites, and other Invertebrates; Category B: Plant Pathogens; and Category E: Weed Control; and must be licensed in categories in which they will be making recommendations
  4. Must have strong technical knowledge of fertilizer, chemical and seed products.
  5. Certified Crop Advisor, Certified Professional Agronomist or equivalent experience.
  6. Must have strong communication skills; ability to communicate in appropriate, professional manner with managers, supervisors, employees, customers, vendors and general public
  7. Must maintain appropriate and expected levels of ongoing education. 
  8. Must have strong relationship building skills.
