Do you enjoy being outside, staying active, and helping children have a good afternoon?

Knoxville Montessori School is hiring an Outdoor Play & Toddle Assistant to help children transition from the structured school day into outdoor play, creative activities, snacks, and family pick-up.

This is not a desk job. Much of the afternoon is spent outdoors supervising play, helping children solve everyday problems, keeping activity areas safe, and making sure everyone is accounted for. Staff may work with different age groups and must be comfortable assisting toddlers with snacks, toileting, handwashing, and transitions.

Responsibilities include:

• Actively supervising children indoors and outdoors
• Leading children in outdoor play, games, nature exploration, art, and simple activities
• Helping toddlers and younger children with snacks, toileting, and care routines
• Maintaining headcounts and following dismissal procedures
• Supporting respectful behavior and helping children work through minor conflicts
• Preparing and cleaning activity areas
• Communicating important information to the Extended Day Coordinator
• Following KMS safety and emergency procedures

Extensive teaching experience is not required. We are primarily looking for someone who likes children, shows up consistently, pays attention, accepts feedback, and is ready to help wherever needed.

This position may be especially appealing to college students studying education, recreation, social work, psychology, environmental studies, or a related field; former camp counselors; babysitters; coaches; outdoor enthusiasts; or adults seeking meaningful and predictable afternoon work.

Applicants must be willing to work outside in varied weather, move actively with children, complete a background check, and participate in required training.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00–6:00 p.m.
