Overland Express is a subsidiary of USMMG and is hiring drivers for the La Porte, TX location

Job Summary

Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trucks & commercial vehicles.  This role ensures vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards. The mechanic works on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other critical systems to minimize downtime and maximize fleet performance. Work hours are M-F some weekends.



Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive service on trucks (oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, etc.)
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Technician’s primary role will be addressing driver concerns such as driveability issues (check engine light), Diagnosis and repair of DOC/DPF issue, foundation brake systems and general repairs.  This includes but is not limited to the diagnosis and repair of starting and charging systems, air conditioning systems, brakes and more.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure vehicles meet DOT and company standards
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs
  • Test drive vehicles to ensure proper operation after repairs
  • Respond to roadside breakdowns and emergency repairs (if required)
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and repair techniques
  • Some weekend work, light trailer repair. Tire Replacement (Mounted Tire Program)

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred)
  • 2 years' experience with overall H.D. truck diagnostics
  • Proven experience as a truck or diesel mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicle systems
  • Ability to operate diagnostic software and tools
  • Understanding of safety procedures and DOT regulations
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred in some roles)
  • Must have adequate tools and air-tools up to 3/4.
  • Ability to interact with drivers, managers and other employees in a professional manner
  • Must be able to lead others to include:
    • Local repair/service vendors
    • Parts vendors
