Cooks, prepares, and seasons soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments. Assists workers engaged in preparing foods for cafeterias, hotels, restaurants, or ready-to-serve packages. Washes, peels, and slices vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients used in salads and plate garnishes. Meets specific needs of calendar and scheduled events (regular and special). Operate all equipment necessary for food preparation including convection ovens, stoves, meat slivers, chopper, knives, steamers, steam kettles and skillets. Manage time so as to complete all the necessary tasks in the scheduled time. Maintain product inventory efficiently to reduce product loss due to waste. Report supply needs to the immediate Supervisor or Director. Keep all equipment, storage areas, and work areas clean and maintained to the standards set by the North Carolina Department of Health. Wear and maintain Lake Junaluska staff uniform. Comply with safety policies, practices and procedures, perform other duties as needed QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities A combination of education and experience equal to 2 years in food preparation. Must be flexible, work well under pressure, able to follow directions.  Must be clean, neat, physically capable of performing all assigned duties. Ability to read and write instructions, correspondence and memos. Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Must be able to prioritize multi-task projects. Manage time so as to complete all the necessary tasks in the scheduled time. Performance/Success Factors Be punctual to work functions; perform well in a team environment; complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner; mindful of assignments and able to prioritize tasks and events.  Perform routine duties with minimal supervision; occasional check of work while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. Strive for quality in all task and/or duties.
