General Description:Ā 


The Product Strategist will work with DMI business units to understand the business units’ operations in order to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and develop tools and products for employees, clients, and borrowers. This is not a standard product management role with a product and backlog to manage. Rather, the product strategist will focus on product discovery and organizational transformation, which may lead to process changes, procurements, or standing up new product teams.


Essential Functions and Duties:


DiscoveryĀ 

•  Ā Ā Observe, research, and document department processes, procedures and tools.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Understand the department’s purpose and mission to identify success metrics andĀ 

gather baseline metrics.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Identify areas where new or improved processes and products will improveĀ 

efficiency or user experience. Ā 

MeasurementĀ 

•  Ā Ā Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for the business unit.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Build the capability to measure KPIs and take baseline measurements.Ā 

Measure the success of product initiatives against the KPI benchmarks, adjustingĀ 

and adding measurements based on experimentation and learning.Ā 

Strategy & Prioritization Ā 

•  Ā Ā Develop a high-level vision for technology transformation and processĀ 

improvements based on discovery research.Ā 

•  Ā Ā In collaboration with the business unit, build a prioritized roadmap with a sequenceĀ 

of initiatives for technology and process improvements that incrementally buildĀ 

toward the high-level vision. Ā 

•  Ā Ā Do build vs buy analysis to determine which tools should be built in-house andĀ 

which should be purchased from vendors.Ā 

Execution Ā 

•  Ā Ā Develop and document requirements for new products and tools.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Do marketing research to select products and vendors that best meet DMI’s needsĀ 

•  Ā Ā for a reasonable cost and partner with legal and compliance to onboard vendors. Ā 

•  Ā Ā Partner with existing product teams or stand up new product teams to build toolsĀ 

•  Ā Ā and products where appropriate. Ā 

•  Ā Ā Document new processes and partner closely with the business unit to adopt newĀ 

•  Ā Ā processes. Adapt processes based on feedback and learnings. Ā 

Transformation Ā 

•  Ā Ā Build credibility and strong partnerships with business units.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Develop adoption strategies for new products and processes.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Own transformation and adoption outcomes and see adoption and transformationĀ 

•  Ā Ā plans through.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Recommend new skills needed on teams or org structures to business unit and DMIĀ 

•  Ā Ā leadership as appropriate.

•  Ā Ā Successfully complete annual regulatory compliance training.

•  Ā Ā Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:Ā 


•  Ā Ā 5+ years of experience in product management, strategy, or UX research rolesĀ 

•  Ā Ā Experience with product discovery researchĀ 

•  Ā Ā Experience with technology transformation and modernization Ā 

•  Ā Ā Comfort with ambiguityĀ 

•  Ā Ā The ability to look beyond what users and clients say they need to identifyĀ 

•  Ā Ā unarticulated pain points and problems. Ā 

•  Ā Ā Demonstrated experience in identifying user needs and implementing solutionsĀ 

•  Ā Ā that measurably meet those needs. Ā 

•  Ā Ā Demonstrated experience identifying metrics and building the capacity toĀ 

•  Ā Ā meaningfully measure success.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Enjoy creating documentation and infographics that clarify problems and illustrateĀ 

•  Ā Ā solutions that are legible to stakeholders of all levels of comfort with technology. Ā 

•  Ā Ā A willingness to drive strategy from a high-level vision down into the weeds ofĀ 

•  Ā Ā implementation and adoption. Ā 

•  Ā Ā Comfort communicating with both senior leadership and induvial users.


Preferred qualifications Ā 


•  Ā Ā Experience in highly regulated industries, especially financial services orĀ 

•  Ā Ā mortgages.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Experience with accounting or financial systems, or with consumer financialĀ 

•  Ā Ā services. Ā 

•  Ā Ā Experience with ethnographic user research and/or service design.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Experience working in established organizations with long tenure employees.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:


The employee must be comfortable in either an on-site office setting, or a quiet, designated work from home space that is free from distractions and noise.
