Job Description

The Advanced Emergency Department Technician performs duties of the Emergency Department Technician and other routine duties within the limit of their training and certification in caring for the Emergency Department patients. The care is rendered under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

From assisting with patient care and mobility to supporting nurses with vital signs, transportation, and daily needs, you’ll be an important part of a team that shows up when patients need us most.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients within the scope of your training and certification.
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking, and other activities of daily living.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable patient environment.
  • Change bed linens and assist with patient transportation to tests and procedures.
  • Serve and collect meal trays and provide between-meal nourishment as needed.
  • Obtain and record temperatures and vital signs under the direction of a nurse.
  • Support nurses and the emergency care team with a variety of patient care activities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, nurses, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Provide compassionate care while maintaining patient dignity, privacy, and safety

Additional Job Description

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • Previous experience with EKG, Phlebotomy, and Cardiac Monitoring preferred.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Current South Carolina Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) or Paramedic is required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
