Job Summary

City's Area Manager (Line Lead) owns 24/7 accountability for our Packaging lines to ensure we are meeting customer standards and are promoting safety across the floor. You will be responsible for meeting order demand, quality, and planning objectives by the management of plant equipment, personnel, and production processes (quantity, quality, budgeted costs, and productivity level). This role also provides advanced operational and process knowledge within the team by operating equipment, allocating resources, training and mentoring team members, and communicating production status across shifts to ensure compliance. The Line Lead has 24-hour, multiple shift accountability for the capability and business results of a production line. They combine leadership and people skills to set short- and long-term direction for their teams and production lines. 


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide feedback to supervisors to help coordinate activities of workers engaged in manufacturing handled at the highest level of quality
  • Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve quality and efficiency of the department
  • Understands and follows City’s safety protocols; enforces these practices on the floor with employees of all levels
  • Able to complete and/or assist in the duties of all jobs related to production when circumstances demand
  • Lead continuous improvement activities within the area
  • Provide directions to resolve technical and production-related issues, ensuring weekly schedules meet or exceed Company and Customer expectations
  • Develop and monitor production plans, inventories, and coordinate activities to meet schedules and target objectives
  • Utilize Management System tools to achieve critical metric targets and close gaps in performance (root cause analysis, Gap Analysis, action logs, PDCA and SDCA cycles, etc.)
  • Provides coaching to Team Leaders and Team Members in the Shift Direction Setting Process 
  • Owns Daily Direction Setting (DDS) and the 24-hour plan for their line
  • Acts as a positive resource and mentor to all employees, ensuring they are knowledgeable about the company’s business success and growth within the organization


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, operations, or related field, required
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with IWS (Integrated Work Systems) or similar MES, preferred
  • Must have basic knowledge of production equipment and process
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety, quality systems (HACCP) and OSHA requirements
  • Experience leading and mentoring large teams to success
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
