Qualifications

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for operating a forklift in our alternative engineered fuel facility in Gray Court, SC, second shift.


Job Duties:

 

  1. Operate sit-down forklifts and approved attachments to move pallets, bins, boxes, and other containers through receiving, staging, processing, storage areas.
  2. Complete documented pre-use and post-use inspections. Check forks, mast, chains, tires, brakes, steering, lights, alarms, restraints, hydraulics, data plates, and attachments before operation.
  3. Stop using unsafe equipment, secure it against use, and report damage, leaks, unusual noise, warning lights, or performance changes immediately.
  4. Unload inbound trailers and position containers only in approved staging locations while maintaining dock, aisle, pedestrian, and emergency-access controls.
  5. Compare load count, labels, profile or work-order information, condition, and visible contents against receiving documentation. Quarantine and report damaged, leaking, open, swollen, hot, smoking, mislabeled, or unexpected materials.
  6. Stage approved materials by process plan, compatibility, profile, and production priority. Prevent cross-contamination, mix-ups, blocked access, and unstable stacks.
  7. Supply the shredding and AEF processing areas at a controlled pace without creating congestion, unsafe accumulation, or unplanned production interruption.
  8. Collect material samples only when trained, equipped, and directed, using approved tools and procedures to prevent exposure and cross-contamination.
  9. Maintain separation from pedestrians and mobile equipment. Use horns, lights, seat belts, mirrors, spotters, and designated travel paths as required.
  10. Perform authorized basic operator care such as cleaning, fueling or charging, and visual fluid checks. Maintenance and repair work must remain within training and authorization.
  11. Keep docks, aisles, approaches, drains, processing areas, and assigned equipment clean and free of loose debris, spilled material, and trip or fire hazards.
  12. Support production through cross-training on related material-handling tasks and equipment after required training and authorization are completed.
  13. Participate in shift handoffs, safety meetings, incident and near-miss reporting, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement work.
  14. Perform other related duties assigned by site leadership within the employee's training, authorization, and safe-work requirements.

 

Required qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of recent forklift experience in an industrial, waste, recycling, manufacturing, distribution, or comparable high-traffic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle mixed container sizes, irregular loads, tight operating areas, loading docks, and active pedestrian or mobile-equipment traffic.
  • Ability to complete VLS site-specific powered industrial truck training and demonstrate operating competence before independent operation.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the assigned shift.
  • Ability to read labels, load documents, procedures, warning signs, and inspection forms and to complete clear written or electronic records.
  • Ability to work the assigned first or second shift and required overtime, weekends, or schedule changes based on operating needs.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; equivalent industrial experience will be considered.
