Job Summary

The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the equipment repair and maintenance shop specializing in McElroy fusion equipment and related construction machinery. This position supervises technicians, coordinates workflow, ensures equipment is maintained to company standards, and promotes a safe, productive work environment. The Shop Foreman serves as the technical leader for shop personnel and is accountable for equipment quality, turnaround times, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct daily activities of shop technicians and mechanics.
  • Assign repair, maintenance, and inspection work based on priorities, workload, and technician skill levels.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for McElroy fusion equipment, generators, trailers, and other support equipment.
  • Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and equipment performance issues.
  • Monitor equipment status and ensure timely repair of damaged or inoperable equipment.
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of parts, tools, supplies, and consumables.
  • Coordinate with operations, project managers, and field personnel regarding equipment needs and repair schedules.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate technicians to improve technical skills and performance.
  • Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and shop inspections.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities.
  • Monitor shop productivity and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ensure shop cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance of tools and equipment.
