About the Role

Polytainers, Lee Summit is looking for a Junior Systems Administrator / Service Desk Coordinator to join our Information Technology team.

Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, this is a hands-on IT support role responsible for providing Tier 1 and Tier 1.5 technical support to Team Members while helping coordinate the day-to-day IT service desk.

You will troubleshoot end-user technology issues, manage and prioritize support tickets, support workstation and equipment deployments, and assist senior IT team members with routine systems administration, monitoring, documentation and IT projects.

This opportunity is well suited to someone early in their IT career who enjoys solving problems, working directly with users and building broader systems administration experience.

What You'll Do

Service Desk & Technical Support

  • Provide timely Tier 1 and Tier 1.5 technical support by phone, email, ticketing system, remote support and in person.
  • Troubleshoot workstation, software, peripheral, printer, connectivity, access and business application issues.
  • Gather information, reproduce issues where possible and document troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
  • Resolve issues within your technical scope and escalate complex, security-sensitive or infrastructure-related issues appropriately.
  • Confirm issues are fully resolved before closing tickets.

Ticket Queue Coordination

  • Review, categorize and prioritize incoming support tickets.
  • Ensure tickets have appropriate ownership and escalation paths.
  • Maintain accurate ticket notes, status updates and user communication.
  • Follow up on aging or stalled tickets to keep requests moving.
  • Coordinate escalations with senior IT staff, vendors and application owners.
  • Identify recurring issues and trends and bring them to the IT team's attention.

Endpoint & User Support

  • Prepare, deploy, replace and recover laptops, workstations, peripherals and other approved devices.
  • Install and update approved software and perform routine endpoint configuration.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, offboarding and authorized access changes.
  • Maintain accurate IT equipment and inventory records.
  • Support technology moves and changes across office, production and warehouse environments.

Junior Systems Administration

  • Assist senior IT staff with routine infrastructure and operational support.
  • Monitor assigned systems, alerts, services and scheduled processes.
  • Perform approved routine maintenance and administrative tasks.
  • Collect logs, screenshots and diagnostic information for higher-level troubleshooting.
  • Assist with basic LAN, WAN, server, application and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Support IT projects, upgrades, testing and deployments.
  • Follow established security, access-control, documentation and change-management requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience in help desk, desktop support, technical support or junior IT administration preferred.
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Fundamentals/Associate certifications or similar are considered an asset, but are not required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to support non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tickets and competing priorities.
  • Ability to recognize when an issue requires escalation.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

You should have working knowledge of:

  • Common workstation operating systems
  • Office productivity applications
  • User accounts and permissions
  • Endpoint hardware
  • Printers and peripherals
  • Basic network connectivity
  • Standard IT support practices

You should also be comfortable working independently on routine technical issues while collaborating with the broader IT team and learning Polytainers' applications, infrastructure and procedures.

Additional Information

  • This position works in both office and production/warehouse environments. Production and warehouse areas may have higher levels of noise and dust.
  • Polytainers operates 24/7/365, and flexibility may occasionally be required to respond to business support needs. Hours may vary and overtime may be required based on business needs.
