The Software Development Engineer in Test 4 is a professional, specialist role responsible for developing and maintaining test software source code to support a solution. As a member of a development team, limited work direction will be provided, and the individual will be expected to solve complex technical issues and complete programming and quality assurance tasks.

This position may lead test projects or solutions where complexity or scope is moderate. This individual helps provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel. Responsibilities

  • Design automated testing strategies, including centralized frameworks and quality reports
  • Develop automated test code for software development projects
  • Collaborate with architects to ensure quality is embedded in architectural solutions
  • Influence design and testing measures to protect solutions from security compromise or failure
  • Comply with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements; ensure team compliance
  • Create test data with valid and invalid records to verify logic and system flow
  • Coordinate user acceptance, alpha, and beta testing
  • Ensure tests are completed and documented; resolve issues using a Continuous Delivery model
  • Act as Developer in Test technical lead and mentor other developers, if assigned
  • Provide estimates for QA tasks
  • Develop technical documentation
  • Participate in the Defect Management process to identify and resolve issues
  • Assess risk and test for robustness and functionality in a Continuous Delivery model

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent professional work experience  
  • Six years of progressive relevant experience or significant internship
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills under pressure
  • Proven experience mentoring and training peers 
  • Verifiable knowledge of the applicable technical systems and functions  
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and written  
  • Demonstrated success in engineering/programming, diagnostics, web technology, and programming methodology
  • Strong understanding of systems and subsystems within an n-tier architecture
  • This job operates in a professional office environment  
  • To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment  

Preferred: 

  • Experience developing and testing complex, large-scale systems
  • Strong experience with tools, methodologies, and technologies relevant to the role
  • Experience testing cloud-based applications in CI/CD within a service-oriented architecture
  • Experience testing systems for scalability, fault tolerance, load, and other operational areas in a data center-based service
