Job Description:

Put your skills to work where every day makes a difference. Join the Central Office workforce as a Maintenance Specialist II. This role will perform specialized repairs such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general construction. Additional duties include supervising inmate maintenance porters and participating in an on-call rotation.

Duties:

  • Perform skilled facility maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, HVAC, flooring, drywall, electrical, plumbing, locksmithing, and painting.

  • Install, repair, and maintain locks, and security hardware throughout the facility.

  • Oversee preventative maintenance and safety inspections to ensure a safe, secure, and functional environment.

  • Supervise inmate maintenance porters while maintaining accountability of tools and work areas.

  • Complete building alterations and repairs, including framing, concrete finishing, and flooring.

  • Assist with seasonal duties such as lawn care and snow removal.


 

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, HVAC, welding, or other maintenance/construction trade and one year of experience in building maintenance or a mechanical trade. Experience may substitute for the education on a year for year basis; OR an associate degree or equivalent vocational education in HVAC and one year experience servicing/maintaining/repairing HVAC systems. Experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

Other: Must have valid driver's license. Must be able to work an on-call rotation. Must be able to lift 50lbs with assistance. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in the order: a medical exam and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
