Pay Range

$95,200.00-$130,900.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.   Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus. 

The purpose of the Sr. Product Engineer role will be to provide technical leadership and support to the PVC membrane platform in the Commercial Roofing industry. In this role the ideal candidate will collaborate and work with the internal and external teams that support all PVC manufacturing.  The individual will have a strong background in PVC, polymer and/or rubber sciences and roofing PVC formulation expertise. Strong leadership, project management, and collaboration skills are required for success in this role.  The role is also heavily dependent on the ability to prioritize projects as the various active project load can vary and projects also differ in size & complexity. Data analysis, trials, and research and development may be required to support this position.  This position will primarily be responsible to maintain all PVC products performance as well as evaluating the fit-for-use work.

Your Day to Day:

  • Manage the RS Division PVC membrane platform as it relates to operations and in some cases sourcing.  Execute the Division goals, standardizations, and best practice sharing across all RS applicable plants.
  • Design, develop, and maintain PVC membrane formulations with the ability to support lab work and production scale-up
  • Provide general plant support/troubleshooting to address emergencies or ongoing process issues. 
  • Work as a collaborative team player among the operations teams, research and development teams, product engineering roles, and supply chain roles.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation to support the product line including specifications, reports, quality management, etc.
  • Monitor and maintain all necessary code positions as it relates to the products as well as track governmental groups or bodies that influence products
  • Actively support improvement of safety performance by encouraging safe behaviors of the team and engaging in the process to improve the JM safety culture.
  • Create and maintain knowledge of latest in rubber/PVC technology by participation in technical organizations such as ASTM, ACS Rubber Division, and others
  • Lead multiple projects and project manage well to meet goals and stay aligned with priorities.
  • Answer questions from customers and JM’s internal personnel on all issues related to PVC performance and testing. When necessary, define and execute testing programs to find solutions
  • Communicate status on projects to all key stakeholders via meetings, reports, and other methods.
  • Spend time in the field on roofs to understand the real issues and opportunities associated with Commercial/Industrial roof systems and installation
  • Generate valuable ideas for JM to support new product initiatives and to protect JM’s intellectual property

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in plastics, polymer, or rubber engineering/science or related polymer or material science field such as chemistry.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product testing, quality management, and/or applicable STEM field.
  • Direct PVC/Rubber formulation experience high desired and viewed as a plus
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills including complex data analysis
  • Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Proven results orientation including the ability to lead key projects to successful completion
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proven ability to make timely decisions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven analytical and quality improvement ability
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally and influence the organization also outside the technical community
  • Travel required 15-30% per year (Project work may increase travel requirements)
  • Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility:  May be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and/or lift up to 50lbs for
